Downloaded Matched songs not syncing with ipod

Hi. I'm using MACOS Ventura and Music app 1.3.6.14

I have a plethora of music uploaded to my itunes music library through itunes match.

I have a new macbook computer with only a handful of music files on it, so I downloaded my entire matched library to the computer through itunes.

The problem I am facing is that when I sync my library with my iPod classic 5g, only the music files that were already on my laptop will sync with the iPod. None of the songs downloaded through iTunes match will go onto the iPod even if I enable "manually manage music" and drag them on.

Does anyone know why this is happening?? Is there any way to make it work

I do not have this problem on my windows computer

[YAY I FIXED IT]

I want to post the fix here so in case someone has it, they can easily search it and find it.

In my itunes settings (under the playback tab), "download quality" was set to lossless. The problem with this is that instead of downloading regular ALAC files, it was downloading .movpkg files, which are DRM protected ALAC files. Usually they only do this for downloaded tracks that are in your library from APPLE MUSIC. why they would do this for matched songs that you OWN is absolutely beyond me.

You have to change the "download quality" setting to "high quality AAC 256kbps", then un-download and re-download all the matched songs. then it will finally download the DRM-free files and you will be able to put them on to your ipod. this is frustrating because it is significantly lower quality than a lossless ALAC, but oh well. as long as it works.

I hope this helps someone out there :)
