archiving tool missing

Hi, - running Sonoma 14.4 on Macbook Pro M1Max.

Accidentally must have deleted the archiving tool, which is also the Unzipper. Now I have a mov.zip folder and can´t open it.

I´ve already re-installed Sonoma, - but the archiving tool doesn´t seem to be there and I still can´t open the folder. Tried many other apps, no luck.

Any ideas?

Hmmm

It sounds like your mov.zip could be corrupt..(?)

The Archive Utility .app is the default for compressing and unzipping, simply by double clicking open a .zip

You can see in from the Finder>Go>Go to Folder, copy & paste:

/System/Library/CoreServices/Applications

you can drag it to your dock, for access if necessary.

There are many third party compression apps to compare your results, one example:

Keka - the macOS file archiver
