Any browser workarounds for 2009 Mac Mini?

This computer is still working well with limitations. The major one is being stuck on an old os which affects my browsers. The CRA was accessible until recently but now none of my browsers can get in. Is there a workaround?

How are you using this Mini? Is it just to get online & check email? If so, then you may want to look at Linux Mint as an option which would provide you with an up to date non-Apple OS that has access to the latest versions many of the popular web browsers such as Firefox, Google Chrome, Vivaldi, and others. It also has access to LibreOffice as well as other free & open source software. You will need to learn a new OS, but Linux is a great way to extend the useful life of older computers, however, Linux is not for everyone. You can test drive Linux Mint by booting the Linux Mint installer and choosing the "Live" option, but this will perform extremely slow booted from a USB stick although it will give you an idea what Linux Mint is like before installing it to the internal drive. Linux Mint will perform much better once installed to the internal drive.

Linux Mint should run fine for basic use with just 4GB of memory.

Just make sure you first create a bootable macOS 10.11 El Capitan USB installer now while you still can & make sure it will boot before attempting to install Linux Mint to the internal drive so that you can reinstall macOS if you decide Linux Mint is not for you. Also, make sure you back up any documents as well....making sure to have at least one copy that can be accessed by any computer running any OS so that you can still access those documents using Linux if needed.

I would be a bit concerned about the health of the internal hard drive on a 2009 computer since I would imagine it is likely worn out or even failing.

..bruce0406..

There still may be an almost sketchy older version Brave browser, that I've used recently

to continue accessing ASC discussions online; had links in Mac with newer OS, so tried

that & got the older version.. Says there's no further than El Capitan to Brave update.

Kinda looks like a roll-your-own smokeless vap-less non-nicotine crutch for old Mac.

..And El Cap is where my Early 2009 iMac 24-inch model 'stops at' macOS 10.11.6..

I'd sent working links via Mac messages in newer Mac mini to friend; while my

Macs don't share iMessage; but do use El Cap in the iMac, as I'm on it now.

The Late 2012 Mac mini is main machine here, as a server model with dual 1-TB

HDDs, partitioned to four 500GB sections; there are four macOS versions on it.

The newest not fully installed yet, is Catalina; followed by an older Mojave; daily

use is High Sierra. One partition still has the 'as-shipped' Mavericks Server 10.9.5.

So if you could use a newer Mac, that helps with these adventures in web.archive

or other means; to locate workable solutions to obsoleted hardware/software. Still

have working Late 2005 Mac mini G4 1.5GHz last model, a factory upgrade.

My 93-year old father uses Firefox 78.15.0esr in his Mac mini 2009 with OS X 10.11.6 El Capitan (updated with a speedy SATA SSD).

Recently his bank account certificates ceased to work (long time coming but he kept using Safari and later that Firefox version until he was finally forced to update...) so he switched to use a newer iPad 5th generation A1823 9,7" 2017 just for for banking.
