is anyone else having problems with the sonic drive-in app? When I pay it, it looks like it goes through fine but sonic has a pop-up that tells me to contact my financial institution.

It’s a genius marketing plan: offer half price drinks in the app and then have it never working consistently. I go at least once a week and every time the app ‘experiences technical difficulties.’ I try 5-10 times and I just give up and order on the kiosk. No point in using an app that doesn’t work

It doesn’t surprise me their support team says it’s not their app. However the reality of the situation is the app has been updated 11 times in just 12 weeks. In fact the last update was released less than 24 hours ago. You can update your app here,

and what did you financial institution say when you contacted them?
They say no problem there. I was able to get my 1/2 price Sonic drink today by using the app and Apple Pay through pure determination… LOL I just kept trying and the transaction finally went through on about the 6th attempt. Some days it’s just not worth that much effort. Sonic Tech support doesn’t think the problem is on their end.
Thank you! They have fixed a few other snafus, but I had already updated yesterday. One thing they did fix was the app telling you that "you are too far away" when you are within a few blocks or even at the restaurant. Hopefully, they will sort out the other issues soon, or I will have to find a cheaper place to get drinks. That's a big selling point of using the Sonic app...half-price drinks. Their drinks are too expensive to buy at regular prices.
That could be part of the issue. If you’re too far, it may not process the transaction. If the app thinks you’re in California and you’re trying to order in Florida, it doesn’t process the transaction. Sorry I couldn’t help more and I hope you have a great weekend!
