You have no sync’d devices? I think you may have a different problem than the Original Poster because unless you sync your ios device to iCloud you can’t access your iCloud contacts on it.

iPhone Settings, [your name], iCloud, show all, Contacts - is that setting on?

Easy, On your Mac or PC contacts export all your contacts to a .vcf file and keep it safe. Without a Mac or PC it is very difficult to maintain an iphone or ipad yourself.

I will risk a wild guess for this. Update your device software to the very latest iOS 17.4.1 (released yesterday 3/22).

Reasoning: I have seen some reports of a similar problem with missing voicemails in v17.4 which magically seem to have reappeared after the update to 17.4.1.

If they are gone from all your devices and you tried to restore from the oldest archive then it appears to be a catastrophic loss at Apple, whom you should contact directly.

In iCloud.com in Data Recovery did you try a slightly older archive?

Hopefully our friend khajotia will come back with more details of how widespread the problem is and if it affects all devices or only those on 17.4

I have the same problem. After restoring my new iPad from iCloud, I noticed all of my notes are gone. THEN. I read your post and noticed all of my contacts are also gone.

In my case, I have no synced devices.

Someone could make a lot money creating an iPhone/iPad backup ap that works. I’ll be watching your post too.

You tell me to take it easy? Easy? By the way, I not only lost my notes on restore, I lost my contacts as well as my notes. I’m not asking myself to maintain my contacts or notes, I am asking Apple not to delete them.

UPDATE 17.4.1 screwed up my co workers iPhone and My husband iPhone 13 Pro Max!! He lost all his contacts, deleted his facial recognition, and kicked him out of his email and will not allow it to restore.

I WILL NOT BE UPDATING MY IPHONE to 17.4.1!!

No I said backing up your contacts is easy, as described.
