Lost MacBook, pin to unlock won’t work

I locked my MacBook Pro for security reasons. I entered the 6 digit pin upon getting my laptop back and it won’t take it. I went to iCloud.com to confirm my id with and it gives me the pin to enter and it’s exactly how I’m entering it! I even had a friend verify what I entered matches what I’m told. At this point I’m stuck in a loop of being told it’s 60 minutes to try again only to try again and then it’s another 60 minutes??

if you are stuck.... take in over the counter for help
