I have been trying to update my payment details on the i phone but it keeps not accepting the details of my new bank card. I tried deleting the card but this too is not being recognised ...should I reset my phone or erase all content and start all over again ?

I wouldn’t recommend doing a factory reset. That’s certainly not guaranteed to correct the issue.
Is your card in your Apple ID Account or your Apple Wallet app or both?
My new bank card is in my Apple wallet . Should I delete and reinstall the wallet contents?

The first sentence of your original post says you can’t update payment information. I asked why? I need to know why, so I can offer possible solutions to the challenges you’re experiencing.
