The simplest and fastest way: If your pictures are in a folder in Finder, then you can use Quicklook-- you the first one, press spacebar, and the first picture shows on the screen--click the expand button

to go full screen And at the bottom you get controls:

You can use your arrow keys to step through the pictures, or have hem go automatically. the control panel will disappear if you don't use it. The show will step through all the pictures in the folder.

If your pictures are in the Photos app, you can select the ones you want to view and choose Files>Play Slideshow. You can choose a transition that suits you. You may want to turn off the sound. The best thing is to make an album of your pictures and drag them in the order you want them shown.

For more versatility in Photos, you can choose File>Create>Slideshow>Photos, and you get choices of music and timing and stuff. See this:

An app that comes with the Mac is Keynote which, like Microsoft's PowerPoint, lets you design slides with text and animation and all kinds of stuff-- though it's more complex to use, of course. Keynote is really pretty great.

There are other options in the App store, most of which have "in app purchases." I usually use GraphicConverter ($40) because I already have it for other things it does, and it is very versitile.
