MacOS Sonoma - How do I put the airplay icon back in the menu bar?

I recently updated to MacOS Sonoma and I no longer have the airplay (mirroring) icon in my menu bar. Any tips on how to get this back?

There isn't a box to check or show mirroring options when available in the menu bar. I checked both system settings > displays (checked advanced settings too) and > desktop & doc (checked shortcuts too). Neither show an option to put it back in the menu bar.

I now have to open system settings > displays > select device, each time I want to mirror, which is not very convenient as an elementary teacher who is constantly switching back and forth between mirroring on the ipad and macbook.

Please let me know if I'm overlooking something! I appreciate your help!!!
