Auto appearance does not work on M1 MacBook Pro after updating to macOS Sonoma 14.4

Auto Appearance works fine for me when switching from Light to Dark mode. [I have it set to change together with Night Shift.]

My issue is that the system stays on Dark Mode when I wake my MacBook from sleep during the day and doesn't automatically switch back to Light mode upon waking.

In other words, the system doesn't sense that my Night Shift hours are over and doesn't switch back automatically to Light mode in my M1 macbook pro.

Same here on 14.4.1, M2 Macbook Air. It was still working on 14.3.

Weird thing is, Night Shift per se works, the colour tint shifts. But the light/dark theme is not switched. Switching from "Auto" to "Dark" and back while NightShift is active just switches back to the "Light" theme.

NightShift is on a custom schedule.

Ok, it's even weirder: I have Night Shift set to 18:30. As mentioned, Night Shift does work, the colours are shifted. The appearance/theme stays light initially but later changes to dark at 20:36 (2h6min later). Weird! Reboot does nothing to change this. Any ideas?

Cant say same, but similar. M2 MBP no longer switches light to dark - dark to light. I thought it was just something I had done to my user account. Naturally made a new one - deleted the home folder - went on about my day. Still auto appearance remains non-functional. Kind of a bummer. Just switched to AUTO from always dark too. Oh well hopefully in next update it returns
