Mac OS ventura 13.4 Samsung SSD T7 4tb corrupted not mounting

Hi, I apologise in advance if the topic has been already previously discussed.

I'm having trouble with a Samsung t7 external ssd drive, itwas working until yesterday but today, after I plugged it in my backup MacBook (and allowed the device) it didn't show on my desktop or sidebar.

The ssd it's blinking, I then checked disk utility and it shows there, it says also the correct ratio of capacity used & free. Although the second voice is light grey and it says "not mounted".

I also tried First Aid but no luck, if ran on Container disk5, it says: "The container /dev/disk4s2 could not be verified completely. Storage system check exit code is 8. Storage system verify or repair failed. : (-69716)"

And if ran on the second partition it says: " Restoring the original state found as unmounted. File system verify or repair failed. : (-69845)".

Any idea of how to solve this issue? The files on this ssd drive are very important to me and today

I was literally about to do a full backup. Thank you, appreciated!

You can try mounting the volume as read-only using the command line. Here is the template to use, just make sure to replace "diskXsY" with the correct drive identifier for the "ONSET_TC" volume:

diskutil mount readOnly diskXsY

If the APFS Container is "disk5", then I believe the "ONSET_TC" volume would be "disk5s1", but make sure to verify the drive identifier since it may change each time the drive is mounted.

Unfortunately there are still no third party utilities to repair the APFS file system, although Alsoft, the developer for Disk Warrior is currently working on APFS repair support, but I believe that will be some time yet before it will be ready.

You may want to check the health of the SSD by running DriveDx (free trial period). Post the complete text report here using the "Additional Text" icon which looks like a piece of paper on the forum editing toolbar.
