I am missing nearly half of my pictures in ICloud. What could have happened?
I am looking through my pictures in iCloud and I am missing nearly have of my pictures in ICloud. How do I get them back? What happened?

What happened?
The usual explanation is that somebody in possession of one of the devices connected to that iCloud Photos library deleted the pictures from that device, so the deletion was propagated up to iCloud and back down to any other device attached to the same iCloud Photos library.
Do you share your Apple ID with anybody who might have done that?
Have you loaned your iPad, iPhone, or Mac attached to that iCloud library to anybody?
How do you get them back?
If they were deleted within the last 30 days, you may be able to retrieve them from the Recently Deleted album.
If they have been gone longer than that, you may be out of luck unless you made a backup of your own.
