Why is there no pinch zoom in maps for apple car?

The android car OS supports pinch for zooming controls in the maps application.

for some reason Apple car os does not support pinch zoom control for any of the maps applications. I understand that there are zoom in/out buttons, but I find them extremely dangerous as I have to press a specific area in the screen. While pinch could be done anywhere in the screen making it a los safer, specially while driving.

I’m an android convert, and I have to say. This is an annoying feature that has made me regret my switch to IOs and even tempt me to go back to android.

please. Add pinching capabilities to maps applications in CarPlay. It’s not only a better user experience. It’s just safer for drivers.

There is a zoom feature in Apple CarPlay. See how here --> Change the map view in CarPlay - Apple Support

Keep in mind not all cars have touch screens, so Apple accommodated this with the + and -

Then tell Apple they got it wrong. I already mentioned the fact that NOT all calls have touch screens.

This is a user to user only forum. We don't work for Apple and we didn't have anything to do with UX/UI for anything.

my question is why isn’t it with the pinch functionality.

it’s much more intuitive.

Ive almost gotten into accidents while trying to zoom out and move around using the maps application because the buttons are so hard to press. You have to focus on the screen to find them, when really we should be focusing on the road.

in my opinion and experience. Pinch and panning as it’s done in the iPhones app or android car is much better.

Im not sure whose decision it was to go with this UX, but they got it wrong. And it’s not a hardware limitation since android for sure supports it.

and I understand some cars might not support pinch, but could it be a setting? So we can choose what behavior we want?
