Skull Emoji on lock screen of my iMac.

Hello, I'm not sure why, but just today my iMac computer has a skull emoji where my face picture usually is. Once I log in it goes away. Put it in sleep mode, then wake up and there is the skull again! Not sure what to make of it. Have I been hacked?

Open your Contacts and go to your Home card. There you can change the image that shows at login{

An update. I was about to do the safe reboot and noticed it hadn’t updated the software (even though it is set for automatic). About that time my Apple watch started acting squirrelly and almost like a computer was trying to guess my code to unlock watch.

Well, un- paired watch, updated iphone and imac and now skeleton face is gone!

I’m updating apple watch now and it seems to be functioning….

Thanks Old Toad!

Is your Mac in a location that you need to lock the screen when it goes to sleep? If not just don't lock the screen.

Give this a try: boot into Safe Mode according to How to use safe mode on your Mac and test to see if the problem persists. Reboot normally and test again.

NOTE 1: Safe Mode boot can take up to 3 - 5 minutes as it's doing the following;

• Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed

• Loads only required kernel extensions (prevents 3rd party kernel/extensions from loading)

• Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically

• Disables user-installed fonts

• Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files

NOTE 2: if you have a wireless keyboard with rechargeable batteries connect it with its charging cable before booting into Safe Mode. This makes it act as a wired keyboard as will insure a successful boot into Safe Mode.
