iMac screen went all red

iMac screen went all red

iMac screen suddenly went to all red and froze. Tried turning iMac off and on again and stays all red. Briefly went to Home Screen but as soon as I moved the mouse it went all red again. Any ideas?

What year model is your iMac...?

Try Safe Mode followed by a normal Restart before resorting to more drastic measures.

Thank you. I turned it off for 30 minutes or so and then turned it back on and it came back. Looking at recovery mode instructions now.

It sounds like a fatal hardware crash however your post is so general that is a guess.

Thank you. The iMac is an Intel one from August 2020. Turned it off and let it sit for 30 minutes or so and then it seemed to restart okay. Seems to be working okay for the last hour.
