Unable to update Apple Watch 1st generation past 4.3.2

I have an Apple Watch 1st generation and it Won’t show an update past 4.3.2 and everywhere I read says it should update further and I don’t understand why I can’t get it to say there’s an update available?

It's not capable of 5.0 or above. For reference, a first generation watch isn't the same as a Series 1 unit.
