I need to move files on OneDrive for Mac
On OneDrive for Mac, I need to MOVE files, (not drag to move, or "get info, rename, compress, duplicate, make alias, copy, or Share). I want simple "move" option, that will ask "Move to where" and allow me to navigate through the subfolders.
Please do not suggest drag and drop. It does not feel safe or efficient to me. I don't like it because sometimes my finger moves from the trackpad and I end up dropping it somewhere I don't want.
I work with a lot of files that need to go to the right place the first time. My OneDrive has a link to the SharePoint that my organization uses for contract management. In OneDrive, I want the "Move" option that I have seen on Windows machines in the past. It allows me to select "Move" and then another window pops up and I am able to back up a level, go down a subfolder level, and keep navigating to the folder I need to "move" my file or folder to. I cannot trust drag and drop because of the number of folders in the repository that I am building. I also cannot trust "Cut" and "paste" because I might accidentally copy another thing and the "cut" document will be completely wiped.
Here are the things I don't understand:
1) What is the "Shortcuts" app supposed to do?
a) I already added "move" to Shortcuts, but it does not pop up. In OneDrive, I click the folder I want to move. There is no "move"option.
2) What is with all the options that I absolutely do not want or need? Move to trash, get info, rename, compress, duplicate, make alias, copy, or Share.
a) Why is "Move to trash" the first option?
b) What is "Make alias"?
c) How do I remove these useless menu options and add "Move"? I want only "get info", "rename" and "move" and "Share".
3) If I right click the folder I want to move, and select "Folder Actions Setup", what is "Confirm Service"?
a) "Finder wants to use the restricted service 'Folder Actions Setup'". Is this it? As mentioned, I work with a lot of folders with a lot of subfolders.
b) If I allow Finder to use the "Folder Actions Setup" on the very top level, does this have the "Move" function somewhere in this service?
c) I clicked "Run Service". A window pops up and gives me the following options, and they are: "add new item, close, convert, add icon, duplicate as jpeg, duplicate as tiff, duplicate as PNG, Flip horizontal, info to comment, rotate left, rotate right, show comments in dialog". None of these are what I need. I click cancel.
d) Back in the Folder Actions Setup window, I click +. It then brings me to a top level folder on the C drive. Nothing looks like it will allow me to "Move".
Here are my steps in picture form to give you a better idea of what I have tried.
