iMac not recognizing DVD drive

I have a 2021 M1 iMac running Ventura 13.6.6

When I plug in my LG external DVD drive (GP65NW60), the system won't mount the disk. I can see the drive in Disk Utility, but it won't actually mount. No other program recognizes it at all.

The drive has a mini USB mini B port. I've tried connecting this device to my computer (which only has USB C ports) in the following ways:

  • mini B to C cable
  • mini B to A cable with A to C adapter
  • each of the above to a powered hub that outputs to USB C.

Nothing works. I checked for any updates through LG, and they're both Windows only and not compatible with my drive (because the SVC code doesn't match?).

Any ideas for a fix or patch to get this working?

Thanks!

iMac (M1, 2021)
