Mic not working iOS 17.4.1

I figured out how to fix it. To fix it, go into Settings and search for “dictation”. Make sure enable dictation is enabled. On the iPhone Pro Max 15, it is Settings > General > Keyboards.

on this page, you will scroll down, and towards the bottom, there will be a section called Dictation. Turn on “Enable Dictation” under the Dictation section.

I’m having the issue with a lot of my apps needing to be granted permission to access the microphone but there is no way to do so. Supposedly going to Settings>Privacy and Security>Microphone and then toggle on/off the apps you want to access it. But there are no apps and no way to request the access.

Similarly, I’m running into the same issue with WhatsApp accessing Contacts. Would love to know if someone finds a fix.

when i connect my AirPods and make a call , the microphone is not working and i’m going to voice memos app to making the microphone test , im not hearing anything in my voice record , although im doing a test for mic in another android phone and found it working normally !!!

After updating my iMac, iPad, and iPhone with iOS 17.4.1, all of the devices’ mics are malfunctioning. I will begin speaking and only get a word or two out when the mic just turns off. It takes several attempts to get one sentence typed via the mic. It is not App-specific…whether I’m on Safari in the search box, using mail, doesn’t matter. I’ve read through the posts from others with mic issues after the 17.4.1 update, have tried suggested solutions to no avail. Since finding this issue has affected numerous people, where do we go from here? I’m having déjà vu from a few years ago when an upgrade severely slowed my devices down.😕

I have the same issue! I can’t take voice notes and the microphone doesn’t appear in any of the apps settings. The same goes for the camera settings for apps. This happened after I updated 2 days ago
