Sonoma update problems

I see that there are a lot of post on the Sonoma update, but most seem to involve Internet connection. When I try to print it doesn't even send it to the printer. I can't shut down or restart my computer. I did a hard boot, but nothing changed in terms of problems going away. HELP!!

MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 14.4

You likely have two problems. First, the printer likely needs an updated driver that works with Sonoma. Second, it sounds like the OS update may have gotten corrupted during the download. You might try the following items to see if one of them helps.

  • Do a restart in the Safe Mode. Hold down the Shift key on restart. The startup cn take some time while the OS is repairing itself and cleaning caches. Then restart normally and test.
  • Open Disk Utility and run its disk repair function. If you do not get an ok result, you may have to run it multiple times until an ok result is provided.
  • If the above fails then I suggest reinstalling the latest version of Sonoma to replace your corrupted updated version. I do not recommend using Wi-Fi as you have already read.

As soon as I updated my MacBook Pro, I started experiencing serious sluggishness and frequent app crashes. Strangely, my mouse also doesn't highlight any options within menus or when I right-click on a window or app, making it difficult to click on or enable particular options.

Naturally, I've tried shutting down and rebooting my machine, but the problems persist. To say that this sucks is an understatement.
