Double clicking icons in dock

Have to click dock icon twice to get to app. Cmd-tab also broken.

I have to click an app's dock icon twice to get to the app I'm clicking on. Say I'm in Safari and I click on Mail. Instead of showing me Mail, it shows me Finder. If I click on Mail twice, it shows me Mail. It's not these specific apps, it's any combination of apps -- both Apple and third-party. Sometimes clicking once on the dock icon works, but half the time it doesn't.

Similar behavior with pressing command-tab. Instead of showing me the most recent app, it shows me some other app.

I see there are other threads with same problem and no solution? Its not a biggie but quite annoying.

Can say with great certainty

On 4 different Apple Computers all running Sonoma 14.4.1

Click the icon in the Dock once will launch the Chosen Application, on the first try

Using the Command Tab will also show all running applications.

You may try Terminal command

Suggest copy and paste to get the spacing correct

Then, hit the return key
