Update Failed

I decided to update my MacBook but it ended up failing. It was for the Big Sur update. I found out after it needs about 30gb of space to download and update and it still tries to update weather you have the space or not. Choose Startup Disk pops up but there is none to choose from. I have tried doing the safe modes but nothing happens. What are my options? I read something using another MacBook to download update but I haven’t read much more of that.

It is unclear what the issue is but it seems that you may have insufficient disc space to do the download. If so, your only option is to either delete sufficient files to create the needed space or install an external disk which you can copy files onto and then delete them from your HD to clear the needed space. If this is not the problem, please spell out what is happening more specifically.
