Need help with SharePoints in /Local/Defaults in Directory Utility

Hello,

I would like to know what SharePoints is and does. There's 3 records in the list that I'm not sharing or want to share. The 3 records are: 1.asdfs Public Folder. 2. Autocad's Public Folder. 3. Computer Name- Private..

It is my understanding that this service is for networking with servers which can allow communication with servers outside of the computer. Can someone clarify the meaning please. Also I enclose a snapshot of the section in Directory Utility. If it does not have to be there can it be deleted .... and can the whole Directory Utility be turned off? This is very important to us we are feeling very uncomfortable about this.
