iPad deleting files automatically

I was studying on some pdf documents, taking notes and highlighting text.

After a few minutes my 3 pdf files have been permanently deleted from the files app, I don’t know why, and now I lost all of my notes.

This is not the first time, why iPad deletes my documents by itself?

Is this one of the worst bugs I've ever seen or some active setting that I don't know how to disable?

Edit: When I search for one of these documents it appears, but the iPad can’t calculate the file location and open it, pls fix this as soon as possible, it can’t be just a setting.

Wondering whether your iPad is short on storage space in which to operate smoothly:

See: How to check the storage on your iPhone and iPad - Apple Support

if so, it is a wise idea to back-up all your data, before making some space.

Eg: How to back up - Apple Support

Check out the article below for how to make space using recommendations:

Else: We do not know which iPad model you have, or which iPadOS version is installed.

You may want to check the iPadOS is up-to-date with the latest compatible version

(Eg: see if an update is waiting to be installed in Settings > General > Software update)

Else: If your iPad is already using the latest compatible version:

Try re-starting your iPad (deletes temporary files etc., re-establishes connections,

updates recent changes etc, and often restores order if something is not working as expected.

See how to: Restart your iPad - Apple Support

More trouble-shootiung if needed:

If you have any third-party (non-Apple) apps like ad-blockers, virus checkers, cleaners and the like (even VPN can cause issues) try turning them off (or uninstalling). See if the problem continues or not.

All the best :-)
