Unknown error verifying email for Apple ID

I have an Apple ID that works on all of my apple devices, phone, iPad, watch, MacBook Air. I can assess my email which is my Apple ID on all my devices. Itunes works great, App Store no issues, however if I go to http://appleid.apple.com to log in it takes my Apple ID, then password but then asks me to verify my email which I thought was my apple id but I then get an "unknown error". Tried every email address I have ever had but continue to get the same "unknown error" message. I am unable to get past the verify email screen due to this unknown error. Two factor authentication is on, I have to allow the sign in [I am on my Mac] on my phone, iPad or watch and provide the 6 digit code, again no issues until I get to the verify email address. I can add email addresses to my Apple ID on my phone or iPad, have done that and then attempted these emails to verify, same error. Changed my password, no success. Again an unknown error every time I try to verify my email. I have seen a recovery contact, again no issues doing so. Perhaps I should attempt to recover my account but I am not sure this will help. Any suggestions.
