Wi-fi calling bug

When both airplane mode and Wi-Fi are enabled, Wi-Fi calling does not work. This feature would be advantageous for reducing cellular radiation exposure at home. However, the error message incorrectly prompts to enable Wi-Fi, even though it's already activated. Therefore, I classify this issue as a bug, as the error reporting is inaccurate or the functionality isn't performing as intended.

This issue occurs consistently across all iPhones and does not require any additional troubleshooting from the user and the issue is same with any carrier so nothing needed from career side. As a workaround, I manually choose the incorrect carrier network instead of activating airplane mode to achieve the wifi only calling option. Apple should offer a similar feature, rather than blaming on the carrier network. And since the iPhone inaccurately suggests that enabling Wi-Fi while in airplane mode enables the wifi calling, it's a bug on Apple's end.

Wi-Fi calling is a feature provided and managed by your carrier. Try the following before you contact your carrier to reset your account at their end. If none of the steps, listed below, help then contact your carrier for further diagnosis and a resolution.

——-

(1) Try and Force Restart your iPhone EXACTLY as shown below and see whether that resolves the issue:

  • Press and quickly release Volume UP button
  • Press and quickly release Volume DOWN button
  • Press and Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears and then release the Side button (Can take up to 20 seconds. (DO NOT release Side Button when invited to Slide Power OFF).

(2)  If the above does not help, then - Reset the Network Settings on your iPhone by opening Settings ➡️ General ➡️ Transfer or Reset iPhone ➡️ Reset ➡️ Reset Network Settings.
