I am using my iPhone to navigate while I‘m out on my bike. The app that I‘m using for the navigation is best when it’s used horizontally. While I can use it that way most of the time, it always rotates back to portrait mode when I‘m going through a tight turn. This is really annoying and I can’t find a way to lock it in the horizontal position on my own.
Maybe you can help me out because I would be very grateful for that.

Your accelerometer is being triggered while turning, which would be expected. If you want what you're doing to not rotate while moving, before you're moving, open whatever you want to keep in the orientation you want, then swipe down from the top right hand corner of your iPhone and tap the icon with a lock in it, which will then turn red and that locks the orientation in the position you want.

There is no landscape lock, only portrait. You might check settings in the app to see if there is a way to do it internal to the app. If there isn't, I'd suggest you request the developer look into adding that.
Firstly thanks for the reply, but when I’m trying to do this it just goes back to portrait mode. And this is not only in Komoot, which I’m using for my navigation, it also happens on other apps like Messages and Mail (and probably every other app).
So, unfortunately this does not help and is not the solution for my problem.
So you're saying that when you lock the orientation as I recommended, the orientation is still rotating of the application you wanted it to not rotate? If you are changing applications while you're on your bike, please note that not all applications can rotate and if one can't, when you change to it it will display in the orientation it was coded to be shown in.
Maybe I‘m not really clear what I mean. I recorded my screen and uploaded it to YouTube. You could have a look and see the problem yourself.
I just realized that IdrisSeabright is correct. You can't lock in landscape, but you can lock in Portrait.
