I have a MacBook that has a $ sign over the number 4 key, but I need to use the Euro sign. Is there a way to change the key to display euro instead of $ or a key combo to get the euro sign to appear?

Ok, got it. This is the case we have 2 different layouts...
I actually don't know what you have but in my case, with qwerty US layouts, the combo gives me the €.
Answering you, of course you can try to change your layout in the settings but I think other symbols will be effected...
Another option, to make the things perfect, you can change and use the keyboard layout need and, if it is not matching what you see on the physical keyboard, you can buy on Amazon or eBay a cover for your keyboard that will "change" the keyboard UI
option + shift + 2 = €
This is the shortcut for your keyboard layout.
Or you need to change the keyboard layout from the mac settings but it will be tricky to write because what you see on the keyboard could not match what you will write...

hmm, I've tried but option + shift + 2 gives me ™ (Trademark in case it won't show in the post)
If I can change the keyboard layout, I imagine it would only affect the $ sign don't you think? The rest are all the generic signs

That sounds llke the Dutch keyboard layout. For that one, € is on option 2.
