How to create Library on network share

I would like to use Final Cut Pro but can't get it to work at all. I am trying to create a Library on a network share.

With a netatalk or smb share I get the error 'Unsupported volume type'

I have added

vfs objects = catia fruit streams_xattr

to the samba config and restarted samba and reconnected the share, but it makes no difference.

If I use an nfs share it will create the library but then can't open it, giving the error 'The operation couldn't be completed. Permission denied.'

I have tried mounting the nfs share via finder and also via terminal with the args

-o vers=4,resvport,rw -t

But again, no change, same error. I can read and write to the same directory of the nfs share no problem with other software.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can check to find out what the problem is?

Thanks

Dave
