Anyone else having performance issues since updating to 12.7.4?

The ram on it has gone up to 13 GB since the update when just running Chrome and some light programs. I checked out my Activity Monitor and what’s using up my memory is “mds_stores,” which I know is linked to Spotlight.

After a failed phone call, I went to the store and they ran a diagnostics and said it’s clean. They just rest some things (SMC and NVRAM), which sort of helped, but I am still seeing my ram usage go up high.

I was told to try and reinstall the OS next. I know it’s a lengthy process, I hope there’s an update soon. Anyone else having this problem?

What do you mean by RAM usage? Where are you seeing this & getting this information?

For many years now macOS now has its memory always full so Activity Monitor will rarely show any unused RAM since unused memory is wasted memory.

FYI, Google Chrome (and all or at least most Chromium based browsers) are known to use lots of memory & CPU cycles. It gets worse with the more tabs/windows you have open and some web pages will consume more RAM & CPU cycles than others. You should fully quit Chrome and relaunch it which will help reclaim resources. You can also use the Chrome Settings to clear the browser cache & perhaps even the browser storage (not sure if Chrome has the latter option, but Vivaldi does). You can also try configuring Chrome to recover resources from background tabs by disabling background tab.
