auto lock not turning off phone

I have an iPhone 15 and previously had an iPhone 11 and I found the same problem on both phones. My auto lock is set to 30 seconds but sometimes I’ll fall asleep with my phone on and it’s still on in the morning. I frequently check to make sure my auto lock is on, and it always is, and during the day it usually works, why doesn’t it work during the night?

When the Camera app is open or you're on a FaceTime call (both video and audio), the iPhone needs to keep the screen on to facilitate the video or keep the connection active. Auto-lock would disrupt these functions.

This applies to other apps that utilize the camera as well, like Instagram or Snapchat.

So, if you fall asleep while on a FaceTime call or with the Camera app open, the screen will stay on and auto-lock won't be triggered.
