Creating an ad hoc network on MacBook Pro macOS Sonoma

Under older versions of OSX, there was a facility in the WIFI menu to create an ad hoc network using the laptop as a router. This facility seems to have disappeared in Sonoma. There is a system setting in the WIFI settings, Show legacy networks and options, but this does not have the create function either.

Does anyone know if this facility is still available and just hidden (but why???)?
