I need to use my timer for my medical eye drops. It worked just fine until an update. I need my timer to work in the background. Sometimes it does but mostly it doesn’t and it’s super irritating. What’s the point of a timer if it shuts down because my screen goes to sleep?

On my iPhone 12 Pro with iOS 17.4, the Clock app's timer function operates independently of the screen lock. This means the timer continues counting down even when my device is locked. Upon completion, the timer will override the screen lock and play an alert sound to notify me.
It's not always the iOS update's fault! Many things can cause phone problems. If you tell people you think it's an iOS update, it might make it harder to fix or find a solution for the real issue.

This ALL began after the update that changed the timer functions. I highly doubt it’s “purely coincidence”. And the update that was to fix the bug that prefilled the words and as you’re typing but you have extra letters from a word ending moving along with your typing….still happening.
I changed the timing of my screen display to go dark at 3 minutes because it does NOT override when it was on two minutes, which is the timer function needed. Something changed with the update because it always would override it before.
It is NOT overriding it. It used to. But it no longer does.
