This morning my "mute" button no longer works. I have already tried multiple times. I've gone to settings and the "silent mode" works fine. I've rebooted the phone to no avail. Pressing the side mute button does not activate a red image on the screen, as before. HELP?
You need to set the Action Button to Mute.
Open the Settings App
Tap Action Button
Slide through the options until you land on Silent Mode, then close that page

If the button doesn't work for any of the options you can choose, then you need to schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar for evaluation and options.
I know I can change in settings, but the side mute button stopped working, which is what I'm trying to resolve
