Still on OS High Sierra 10.13.6. Been ingoring it mainly because of MS word.

I know I need to update the OS. But I use MS Word because that is what I need to use for writing and submissions. I've been avoiding MS Word 365 for about as long as I can. Any suggestions? I know there are many excellent reasons for using and updated OS. My Mac has a 3.12TB Drive and 8 GB memory.

The next version of Microsoft Office (Office 2024, with perpetual license) is being released soon, per Microsoft.

Apple iWork Pages, Numbers, and Keynote can read and write many Office files.

LibreOffice can read and write most Office documents.

LO has been able to read Office documents that Office itself can’t read.

An iMac with an HDD and 8 GB will be slow on newer macOS versions. On various iMac models, storage can be upgraded to SSD externally. Memory is easy to upgrade on iMac 27”, and hard to upgrade on iMac 21.5”.
