Does Apple still support updates to iPod classic

Will Apple still support the iPods? I have a classic and want to update it. But it seems like a hard task to do.

Support is here, and always has been. Apple no longer sell the Classic, or provide updates for it, but it does still work with iTunes (if that's what you're using) or with Finder on the newer Macs.

In theory, the replacement app in Windows will work with the Classic too, but overall, that app is not yet ready for mainstream use.

I have a classic and want to update it.

Let's make sure that your definition of "update" is the same as those of us who help out here:

    • if you mean updating the software, then it's more than likely that your iPod is already on the latest version. We can probably confirm this if you let us know which version of software your iPod is currently using
    • if you mean updating the music that's on the iPod (in other words, managing your iPod), then we will need to know the following:
      1. are you using iTunes to manage your iPod (Windows PC or older Mac), or Finder (a new Mac)? If it is iTunes, is this on a Windows machine or a Mac?
      2. is this the same method that you've used in the past and if so, was it on the same computer that you are using now?
