How do I add apps to Photos

I have several apps that I use to edit photo images; however, only a few show up in Photos editing feature. I am unclear about how to do this. Do I add them to extensions in system preferences? If so, how do I do that.

Thanks in advance for your help,

There are two places in Photos that you can use to invoke an external editor. The most inclusive is "Image>Edit With," like this:

You can choose "Other" and then edit a picture with all manner of apps that you can find in your Applications folder.

The other method is to choose the 3 dots (ººº) from within the Edit window.

This gives a much more restricted selection of apps that have met Apple's requirements.

Have you tried both?
