I deposited money ti a close account. It shows it cleared but no money was received when I called the bank. Do people usually recover the money?

The closed account bank must reject receipt of the transfer. Some banks do it immediately, while others will wait a few days. Just have to give it some time.
How long has it been? It generally takes 10 to 20 days when funds were attempted to be deposited to a closed account.

Generally speaking, funds are returned within 10 to 15 business days from when you initiated the transfer.
