I logged in to discover the name assigned to my account here had changed to something indecipherable rather than what I selected. Nothing else appears to have changed. Why? Was I hacked? Is this forum unsafe?

We are other end user and cannot know why moderators take action.
They usually send an explanatory message to the email account associated with your Apple ID.
