HELP! Failed IOS Update - Iphone 13 stuck on update progress bar

Sooooooo........I recently bought a secondhand Iphone 13, excellent condition all in good working order. I transferred everything from my Android phone, everything went over a treat! Hooked it up to my windows laptop via the Apple Devices app and it said there was an update for my IOS, 17.3.1 to 17.4.1. Being a techy guy I choose to update it. Long story short, all was going well until it prompted me say the update had failed. Now, the phone is stuck with the apple symbol and progress bar at about 60%. It's stuck on that screen and won't do anything. What should I do?

iPhone 11, iOS 17

Force restart:

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME UP

     then

  • Press and quickly release VOLUME DOWN

     then

  • Hold the SIDE button until an Apple logo appears (15-30 seconds), ignoring "slide to power off" if it appears

The operative word here is QUICKLY; and try it a couple of times, the timing is a little tricky. If done correctly this will always work unless the phone has a hardware problem.

Make sure you have the latest version of iTunes from https://itunes.com, restart your PC just before trying to update, and disable any antivirus.

One other potential issue is download speed; it will time out after 15 minutes. To work around this when you click Update it will offer download only or download and update. Choose Download Only. After the download completes click Update again.
