Apple TV App unable to access account settings

Since the recent updates on Sonoma 14.4 and 14.1, the TV app on my Mac Studio has been behaving strangely. I cannot access the Account Settings directly. I can only select it from the Library/Home sidebar., no other Library location works.

When I do finally get into it, I went in to see if a recently purchased show was purchased or not, because it would not show up in my Library under TV Shows or Recently Purchased, but it did appear under Home/Up Next - and each individual episode was available for download - but not the entire show. I f I download an episode, that will then show up in the Recent & TV Show sidebar items, but only as long the downloaded episode is present on the hard drive.

Conversely, on my iPad, the show is present (Recent, TV Shows) and everything is present only in the cloud.

So I wanted to see my Account Settings / Recent purchases, and finally see it is there as "Pending".

So have recent Sonoma updates broken the TV app on the Mac (I have a Studio)? Or is there something else going on??

I went in to see if a recently purchased show was purchased or not …

See: View your purchase history for the App Store and other Apple media services - Apple Support

for details on all purchases through your Apple ID account, listed by date.

… because it would not show up in my Library under TV Shows or Recently Purchased,

The library lists purchases (buy/rent) from the iTunes Store, but not subscription content.

Downloaded episodes from inside the Apple TV app (i.e. a file on your Mac) would additionally be listed in the Downloaded category of the Library, even for subscription content or copied from “other sources”.

but it did appear under Home/Up Next

Adding content to Up Next says nothing about access, as that action doesn’t imply buying or subscribing yet.

If the content is viewable and downloadable, then you would have access, either as purchase or as being subscribed.

Can you disclose the name of the TV show? Then we may check availability options.

There may be variations by country, so that detail would be helpful as well.

It is this discord that I'm perplexed by.

I haven’t experienced that myself, and I don’t recall this issue mentioned on this forum (but I may have missed or forgotten about some posts).

Unless someone else chimes in with a new idea, I would suggest to contact an expert from the Apple Support staff for further assistance. Contact Apple for support and service (phone numbers) or start your support request online (chat/email/callback).

There is no subscription involved. The purchased show is "Mr.Robot", the boxset or 'complete' version, all episodes included. I'm in Canada, and purchased from the Canadian store. It is available for purchase.

When I finally did get into my account (apparently only accessible (for me) from Home or Store), I can see the show is listed under "Pending", and I can see on my credit card records that it has not (as of 5 minutes ago) been charged for.

As for the Up Next issue, any prior purchase I have made (movie or TV), the Mac version of the app automatically places the new purchase at the head of the Up Next listings. I'm fully aware that downloads would show up under the Library/Downloads, as I think would be evident from my initial post. I did indicate that I could only play an episode on the Mac if I downloaded it. HOWEVER, on my iPad I can play from the cloud, I can see the show listed under TV Shows and under Recent Purchases. It is this discord that I'm perplexed by.
