apple pay cannot make contactless payment in store, but can make payment online

Have you contacted the bank to see if they even see the transaction? If they don’t see it, it really starts to indicate an issue with merchant or their Payment Network.

Many smaller merchants do not accept cards on the American Express, Discover or even MasterCard network.

Some merchants use an anti-fraud protection that detects the BIN (Bank Identification Number), which is the first 6 digits of the card. Apple Pay, Google Pay do not display the BIN correctly and transactions will just fail. I would suggest trying a regional or national merchant that accepts Apple Pay to see if it works.

Tell us more about what is happening in-store? When you go to checkout and hold your iPhone near the near field communication symbol on the EFT PinPad does your default debit or credit card show up as the wallet app opens? Or to the contrary is nothing happening with your iPhone? Is the wallet app opening and your card shows up and you double click the sloop/wake button but you never get the “ding” / check mark? Or to the contrary is the card being denied?

If they don’t see contact, it’s a merchant or Payment Network issue.

Is it one specific payment method or multiple payment methods not working? Is it happening at multiple merchants or just one or two specific merchants? Are the merchants national retailers or local merchants?
