I type in a mail message in Mac mail and it responds to keyboard typing with a delayed screen typing. I have to allow the Mac to catch up to my typing to confirm I am typing the correct message or recipient.

Copy the report
and use the Additional Text button to paste the report in your reply.
Then we can examine the report and see if we can determine the cause of the problem.
+2 There are no viruses for Mac OS, however if you still suspect something please post an EtreCheck report.
Spyware or a virus is the last thing i would check for. Frankly I haven't seen a virus on my Mac in about 30 years.
More likely something else is slowing down the system.
