Safe to share my iWatch serial number?

Hi, I'm looking to sell my iWatch and someone is asking for a picture of the serial number on the watch. I wanted to check if this is safe or if there would be any issues with this? I read that some people may commit warranty fraud (mine is out of warranty now) or someone could then claim that it's their watch which has been stolen. Is it safe for me to give out the serial number so the other person can check to see if it's a genuine apple product?

Thanks!

Your concerns are justified. Fraud is rampant. Don't provide a serial number to some random person asking for one.

I suggest copying its serial number from the Watch app and pasting it into Apple's database, here: Check Your Service and Support Coverage - Apple Support. Take a screenshot, obscure some of that serial number, and do the same with the one engraved on the Watch. Send that information to the prospective buyer, and take it from there.
