How do I increase the volume for FaceTime calls on my MacBook Air running macOS Sonoma

the sound quality on FaceTime is good except that even set to max volume the sound is too quiet. I don't have this problem on my iPad or iPhone. I have checked all setting and sound options. I have checked all the support answers.

I am on Sonoma 14.4.1, Facebook vers 5 (3080).

How do I get the volume louder ?

Do you mean the volume you hear - which will depend on your interlocutors's mic settings - or how other people hear you?

If other people sound too low, you may need to ask them to adjust their mic, or speak closer to the mic.

If the problem is with how other people hear you:

With Facetime running, click the Camera icon on your menu bar.

A little menu opens. At the bottom you should see "Mic Mode". Try different options (I see "standard", "voice isolation" and "wide spectrum").

It’s the volume I hear. Same peolpe talking to me on skype video for example volume is good. Only FaceTime when the volume I hear is too quiet and it’s the same whoever i talk to on FaceTime. As i say all other apps the volume is ok. Is there some ‘clever’ stuff going on to try to give good ambiance that has the effect of quietening the sound i hear ? If so how do i turn it off ?

thanks
