Safari opening to previous pages. Previously, I’d had it set to open on a blank page. That’s what I want Sonoma most updated. Why does this change? What settings do I need?

Open Safari, go to the menu named Safari in the menubar at the top of the screen and click "Settings" and then click "General" lat the top of that Settings window.

Set "Safari opens with" to "A new window" and "New window open with" to "empty page."

Another thing to check: Apple menu > System Settings > Desktop & Dock > Close windows when quitting an application -- on.

I've never had any of the above settings change when doing an update or upgrade.

The setting:

Apple menu > System Settings > Desktop & Dock > Close windows when quitting an application

applies to all apps, not just Safari. If that isn't set to on then any application that has one or more windows open when the application is quit, will open those windows when the application is started. It does affect Safari, but not just Safari.
