Can I use translate in Books app

I often read books in Spanish and I seem to remember that I was able to use translate while reading. But on the latest version of iPad OS 17.4.1 I can only translate single words not whole sentences. In kindle I can select whole sentence and translate it but I can not do it in Apple Books. I find it very limiting. Does anybody know if it possible to translate whole sentences in Apple Books?
