Quit Mail completely. Go to System Preferences > Internet Accounts and, for each account, deactivate “Mail.” Open Mail and see if the import completes. Reactivate “Mail” in the accounts afterwards.
In Disk Utility>View, select Show all Devices, highlight the top left entry.
Run Disk First Aid on all items in the left panel, from top down.
Hmmmm, that should be plenty of space, enter this in terminal report the results please...
diskutil list
it'll look something like this...
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER

Physical Store disk6s2
1: APFS Volume Sonoma - Data 1.1 TB disk7s1
2: APFS Volume PreBoot 2.2 GB disk7s2

Sorry but was looking for Disk Utilities to determine the Used and Free Space
What I am seeing from your Terminal Command result is a Whopping
APFS Volume Macintosh
HD - Data 1.4 TB >> Uses Account Data is located
APFS Volume VM 3.2 GB >> Possible but questionable under normal conditions IMHO
APFS Volume Macintosh HD >> 15.4 GB - Which is where the OS is located
APFS
Snapshot com.apple.os.update-... 15.4 GB Identical Volume to Macintosh HD
Think it is better If I observe versus participate
It could get confusing and thusly best I back way and let @BDAqua take the lead 😎
OK, how much free space is on your \hard Drive?
That is what I can't figure out?? I did the update and now I can't move forward in mail. I'm attaching screen shot of what happens when I try to open mail....
then it trys for a minute or two and this is the next screen.....
Just to add as related to" how much free space is on your \hard Drive? "😎
POP versus IMAP and Servers Side issue ?
Capacities to handled the Imported emails ?
Hmmm, pretty strange‽
Tricia, where are you importing it from & how much free space there?
Oh no, I missed that, I think you're on the right track & my brain isn't functioning all that well!
I have deleted all of the internet accounts like you said and it still gives the same error?
Sorry, this the only solution I knew for this particular problem.
This all stopped working one day when my computer shut down unexpectedly and the this screen appeared
