What is the blue box that shows up intermittently

I first notice it when I start typing and I can not get a space. All the words run together. It did just now. Look at your Accessibility settings for something related...

see if Full keyboard Access got turned on(?)

ref: Full Keyboard Access enabled in >System Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard.

if it is OFf —toggle it to make it on then OFF again and compare your results
