I'm trying to get Wallet to work. It wouldn't let me add a card saying it was full, even though there was only one in there. I closed the app, but then it told me it needed an update on my phone. Did that and it's still saying the same. I did a hard reset, still saying the same. I have an iPhone 7 and it's running iOS 15.8.2.

Yes, I have an iPhone 7 still and I have cards in my Wallet app. The process you’re describing is how to delete an app. Press and hold until it enters Jiggle mode and then X it out and it will be deleted. Restart the device and download from Apple App Store.
Do you have a lot of loyalty cards in the Wallet, old tickets, boarding passes etc?
Should it be able to work on an iPhone 7 with the older operating system? Apple information says it should, but not sure if that info can be trusted. I have tried to delete the app and reinstall, but I can't find a way to do that. If I touch and hold the icon I get the option to remove from the home screen, but not to delete.

And I've just discovered that Wallet can only be deleted from phones using newer OS. So I can stop trying to do that.
iPhone 7 doesn't allow the Wallet app to be deleted, only removed from the home screen.
